Congrats to Jessica!

Those of us in the atheist world know exactly who Jessica Ahlquist is, but for those of you who don’t, let me clue you in.

Jessica is a 16 year old atheist from Rhode Island who made national headlines when she filed a complaint with the ACLU after deciding a prayer banner hanging in her school was unconstitutional. A federal judge agreed with Jessica and the banner was removed and the school committee decided to not appeal the decision; probably due to the fact that most adults with common sense understand the separation of church and state and understand that a public school, funded with tax dollars is no place to promote a specific religion.

Don’t Eat The Moooooo

Something interesting happened today and I’m not really sure how I feel about it.

Our son is “Student of the Week” this week, so my wife got to go and have lunch with him. She called me as soon as she left the school to tell me how it went. We all know school lunches are terrible; they had meatballs, green beans and an apple slush thing for dessert. My wife described 6 little meat balls with a marinara dipping sauce, extremely over cooked green beans, a fruit cup, and frozen apple slush stuff which took them all lunch trying to get chunks of; and that was with his mom helping.
